Here is a bit about us, our B&B and its history~

Brian & Kathy moved to Columbia Mo from Banks Oregon. Brian who was born and lived his whole life in the Pacific Northwest and Kathy who was born and lived most of her life in Texas wanted to go into business for themselves and running a Bed & Breakfast seemed a perfect fit.
The bed and breakfast which also serves as our private home and is a common theme in our industry was built in 1921 and is located in the 'Historic East Campus Neighborhood' district of Columbia Mo, just one block east of the University of Missouri campus. The city of Columbia is located midway across the state right along I-70. We are about a 2 hour drive from Kansas City to our west or St. Louis to the east.
For the majority of this homes existence, it has served as a primary residence to families. It was not until the late 80's it was sold and used as college student housing. In 1993 it was purchased by the original 3 owners of the bed & breakfast in an auction and then underwent the transformation into becoming a bed & breakfast. They went on to open the business in February 1995 and we bought the property on December 5th, 2005. At the time we purchased it, only 1 of the original owners still was active in the business and they had brought on a new business partner sometime in 2000.
In the summer of 2008, we closed our bed & breakfast in the summer to complete a full blown basement renovation and to make the then 280 SQ Ft of living space into the now 960 SQ Ft. of living space we now enjoy with an additional 120 SQ Ft Mechanical Room that has 2 tank less hot water heaters and a water purifier/de-chlorinator system for the entire house.
Our goal is to make you feel right at home. We want you to come and experience a time away from your world without giving up on many of the comforts of home. We only have 4 guest rooms so it stays nice and quiet, unlike a 100+ room hotel, and all of our guest room are all located on the 2nd floor so you never have to worry about people walking about in the middle of the night above your room.
We have WiFi in all the rooms and for those that don't have a lap topcomputer, we have a guest computer with DSL and laser printer in our common living room.
The common living room also has a T.V. that is hooked up to satellite, relaxing sofa's, books, and card & board games are available to help you relax or just pass thetime away. There is a fireplace in the living room, however it does not work at this time. We hope to be able fix it or update it to a pellet stove or gas fireplace maybe in the future.
There is a small guest refrigerator with sodas and bottled water plus a microwave on the second floor where all of the guest rooms are located.
Need to call a loved one far away? We have free long distance calling (please ask before you make an international phone call) in all of our guest rooms.
In the morning, wake up to the aroma of fresh coffee brewing or pick from our large selection of tea served with your hearty breakfast. We will not serve you anything that you don't want, just please let us know when you call or email us when you make your reservation if there are foods you prefer to not be served to you. At the University Avenue Bed & Breakfast you will not go away hungry. We make sure that each guest is served a breakfast that fills them up right.
When the weather is nice our guests enjoy time out on the back deck where they can relax, listen to the birds, visit with family or friends.
Best of all, our nightly rates are always the same. We never raise orlower rates based on peak times of the year. We do however for some events require that you to stay a minimum of 2 nights. But for all of what you get, why wouldn't you?
Lastly, please visit our Bed & Breakfast Inns of Missouri listing page to read recent guest comments by clicking HERE and scrolling to the bottom of the page. Each year we reward 2 guest who wrote reviews about their stay with us a Gift Certificate for a Free Night Stay at our B&B. Come stay with us, write a review and you might win too.
