Before you begin, preheat your oven to 350°. You will need an oven safe baking dish, a small sauce pan, spatula, apple peeler, knife, cooking spray and a ¼ measuring cup.
The ingredients are: One Granny Smith apple, 4 crescent rolls, ¼ cup sugar, ¼ cup of apple juice, 2 TBLS of butter and cinnamon.
In the small sauce pan add the ¼ cup sugar, ¼ cup of apple juice, 2 TBLS of butter and heat on medium heat till the sugar is well dissolved. Meanwhile peel the skin off the apple.
Cut the apple into four quarters and remove any of the core that remained. Take a peak at the sauce and make sure the sugar is dissolved and butter is melted. Reduce to low heat.
Remove the crescent dough from the can and gently unroll it. The dough will be perforated to pull apart. Separate the dough slices and lay on a clean non-stick surface as shown.
Place one chunck of apple on each dough slice with the apple on the bottom edge. Bring up the two corners of the bottom edge and press them so they stick to the apple.
Holding the two corners of the dough, roll the apple onto the rest of the dough as shown. Finish rolling up the other apples.
Spray baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and lay the four dumplings in the pan and lightly coat with a dusting of cinnamon.
Pour the apple juice mixture slowly onto the apple dumplings. The juice will wash off some of the cinnamon and this is ok and it adds to the flavor. After adding the juice, lightly dust with cinnamon again.
Place dumplings in the oven for approximately 30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and allow to cool and juice to thicken. Approximately 5 minutes.
